Mission & Vision

Embroidering the magic of science

Curiosity has always been my engine—a deep need to know, connect the dots, and understand what might otherwise seem like magic falling from the sky.

Science gives me the clarity, structure, and control I crave, helping me uncover the finally-maybe-not-so-magical phenomena and channel those insights into my art.

Through my creations, I distill these discoveries into pure beauty and raw emotion, revealing the magic of reality.

But reality often feels overwhelming—rush, disconnection, endless demands, and global crises. Too much for a sensitive soul.

Creating offers me a refuge from this chaos, a space to pause, reflect, and bring light into the world.

My embroidered art is my way of contributing something positive and beautiful—a space to explore the infinite whys of the universe and remain awed by how the world is shaped. It’s where I pause to rediscover what truly matters: perspective and meaning.

Gazing at the sky has always been my way of pressing pause—of asking deeper questions and freeing myself from the rush of society.

It reminds me of something bigger than ourselves, offering perspective, patience, trust, and the energy to keep going. A reason to fight for, and a creative force that fuels hope, freedom, and inspiration.

Creating allows me to share the magic I see through my scientific lens, showing how even the simplest things can be incredible in countless ways—if only we take a moment to pause and admire them.

Through my work, I offer a fresh perspective and a reminder of what truly matters: meaning, and through that, freedom.

For me, understanding science is understanding the magic, and my art is my gift of that magic and freedom to you.

Meet the Artist

Hi! I’m Laura S. Urbina, a Spanish aerospace engineer PhD turned embroidery artist, now based in southern France.

I’ve always had a passion for both science and art. Though I initially pursued the “secure” path of engineering, the absence of the creative spark that truly drives me weighed heavily on my heart. I felt disconnected from my true self and my core values.

Finding the courage to change my life’s trajectory, I trained in embroidery art at École Lesage and Studio Eyral, eventually founding Delta V Creations—my own studio (or lab, as I like to call it).

Here, I combine my scientific perspective with the precision of embroidery, focusing on the geometric beauty and the almost-magical workings that surround us. It’s about uncovering the hidden beauty that exists when we take the time to truly observe.

Sharing knowledge is a core value of mine, so I also create educational content to help others rediscover joy and mindfulness through embroidery. I offer a meditative space where they can slow down, reconnect with what matters most, and express themselves through the delicate art of embroidery—a true bubble of freedom.

I invite you to join me on this creative journey and discover the beauty of embroidery for yourself.

The Delta V embroidery studio

Delta V Creations is the name of my embroidery studio—or as I like to call it, my creative laboratory.

“Delta V” is a term from the aerospace world, represented as ∆v. It describes the total change in velocity that allows a satellite to shift orbits, charting a new trajectory.

For me, Delta V symbolizes my own change in trajectory—from the structured world of aerospace to the limitless universe of artistic expression. It’s my personal Delta V manoeuvre, aligning my life with my deepest values.

But the journey doesn’t stop there. My creations are designed to give you that same energy boost. Thanks to your incredible feedback, I’ve named it the “wow! effect”: a surge of joy and confidence that radiates outward.

That’s what I call a Delta V.

Artistic Approach

Unleashing Creative Power Through Precision and Intuition

The Spark

Every creation begins with a predefined trajectory sparked by an image, material, theme, or scientific wonder that captures my imagination.

Whether drawn from the underlying mathematics of the universe or the magical elegance of nature, each idea is shaped by my desire to create balance, visual harmony, and a naturally pleasing “wow” effect.

This is why geometry, with its magical balance and harmony, deeply inspires my work.

The Blueprint

The process unfolds with a freehand sketch—an essential step to define the visual balance of the piece, its proportions and the key elements, or what I call the “hero” of the design.

Harmony in my compositions is achieved through careful arrangement, guided by the golden ratio (also known as the phi number), a natural principle that exists in the world around us.

The Alchemy

The visual harmony of my pieces depends on a balanced choice of colors and materials.

A pivotal step in every creation where I delicately blend hues, threads and crystals to evoke emotion and elegance.

Gold often plays a vital role in my creations, a nod to the golden ratio and the timeless influence it represents.

Transfer to the Digital Orbit

Once the sketch takes form, I bring it into the digital universe, redefining the boundaries of traditional embroidery norms.

Here, I refine every detail, ensuring that every detail of my embroidery design is accurate to the millimeter—because, as an engineer, precision is in my DNA.

The Magic

It is at the embroidery frame where precision and intuition intertwine.

I make intuitive adjustments to the colors and materials as the piece comes together, breathing life into the design.

And that’s when the magic happens.

The result is more than an artwork—it’s a celebration of beauty, precision, and creative freedom, with that guaranteed “wow!” factor.
