Embroider with me

I’m Laura S. Urbina, a trained expert in French Haute Couture tambour embroidery, with certifications from the prestigious École Lesage (Paris) and Studio Eyral.

Before embarking on my embroidery journey, I earned a PhD in aerospace engineering and worked as a university lecturer. This unique background instilled in me a love for precision, creativity, and problem-solving—all of which now fuel my embroidery practice.

When I began exploring the world of embroidery, I yearned for the simple pleasure of stitching—a way to fully immerse myself in the art. But finding designs specifically created for tambour embroidery with the Lunéville hook was nearly impossible.

That’s why I decided to fill this gap:

I created a curated collection of embroidery patterns, each thoughtfully designed for Haute Couture embroidery enthusiasts. Paired with optional, carefully assembled kits, these patterns include everything you need—technical drawings, stitch legend, and high-quality materials—to make your creative time seamless and fulfilling.

With an educator’s insight, I’ve ensured that every pattern is clear, effective, and inspiring, allowing you to enjoy the art of embroidery without unnecessary complexity. Turn your time at the embroidery frame into a moment of pure joy and creativity.

Each pattern is a carefully crafted PDF that includes: a stitch legend, technical drawings, photos of my finished work for reference, and an optional curated materials kit to complement your creation.

Yes… and no!

If you already embroider with a needle, you can use the needle-only projects without any problem. However, for the rest of the patterns and video tutorials, you’ll need some basic experience with the Lunéville hook—but don’t worry, you can get there!

I recommend starting with the Online Embroidery Courses, where you’ll learn the essentials: handling the Lunéville hook, the start stitch, end stitch, and chain stitch. These three stitches are key to begin with tambour embroidery.

Once you’re comfortable with them, you’ll be ready to explore the Embroidery Video Tutorials and Embroidery Patterns! I suggest starting with the beginner level to practice and build confidence—then, the embroidery universe is yours to explore!

Yes. If you’re part of a training organisation or embroidery school, you can make these patterns available to your students with a Commercial Exploitation Licence, which I can issue. Feel free to contact me for more details—I’d be happy to discuss the options with you.

No, all embroidery designs, elements and content are strictly for personal use and are protected by copyright. This means they cannot be used for commercial purposes, including selling finished creations made from the designs.

If you’re interested in using these patterns for commercial purposes, please contact me to obtain a Commercial Exploitation Licence, which grants the necessary rights for business use.

Absolutely! In fact, I created these designs while preparing for my own hand embroidery exam in France. Like you, I needed to practice specific techniques—again and again—until I mastered them. These resources are designed to help you do the same.

If you’re preparing for an embroidery exam, make the most of your training:

  • Online Embroidery Courses – Perfect if you’re an absolute beginner and need a structured learning path.
  • Embroidery Video Tutorials – Ideal if you’re familiar with the techniques but still want guided practice.
  • Embroidery Patterns – Best for confident embroiderers who prefer to work independently.

With dedicated practice, you’ll be well-prepared to excel in your exam!

To complement the Embroidery Video Tutorials and Embroidery Patterns, you have the option to purchase a corresponding materials kit, making it easy to get started right away.

Of course, you’re also free to source your own materials or use supplies you already have at home. To guide you, each PDF includes non-affiliated product links, showing exactly what materials I use here in France. While these exact supplies may not be available in your country, they’ll serve as a helpful reference so you can find the closest alternatives.

Each embroidery project is designed for a specific experience level:

  • The Online Embroidery Courses and Embroidery Video Tutorials, created for beginners, provide video guidance and step-by-step instructions to help you work independently.
  • The Embroidery Patterns are meant for more experienced embroiderers who already know the stitches used in each pattern. Before purchasing an embroidery pattern, please ensure you’re familiar with the techniques involved. If you’re not, I recommend starting with the corresponding Embroidery Video Tutorial, where you’ll be guided step by step through the project.

If you encounter any difficulties along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out. We can discuss your challenge and I’ll offer tips and solutions to help you move forward, whether through a phone or video call.

Absolutely! I can either digitize an existing design* or create a brand new one for you on request.

For more details, check out the Custom Embroidery Digital Designs service, which is tailored specifically to this type of request.

Feel free to write to me and share your idea—I’d love to discuss how we can bring it to life together.
